Academic Program
Radboud University is a large university with over 19,000 students currently enrolled, which makes it slight larger than UAlbany. Besides these students, there are also approximately 1,850 international students currently in Nijmegen.
Radboud University consists of seven different faculties (Colleges):
1. Faculty of Philosophy, Theology, and Religious Studies
2. Faculty of Arts
3. Faculty of Law
4. Faculty of Social Sciences
5. Faculty of Science
6. Nijmegen School of Management
7. Faculty of Medical Science
You are free to select courses in any faculty if you meet the prerequisites for the specific classes. The full admission requirements are listed online.
Knowledge of the Dutch language is not required, as every student and professor has a proficient command of the English language. In addition, Radboud University offers more than 250 courses that are fully taught in English across the seven faculties.
Two academic features that are characteristic of Radboud University are the informal relationship between students and professors and the fact that the university is a close-knit community despite the fact that the university is quite large in terms of the number of currently enrolled students. Many courses are being taught on a small scale which creates a more productive learning climate as it allows for more interaction between students and professors.
Radboud University has recently developed special Certificate Programs (RCP) for international students. These programs are partially based on the popularity of the current courses among international students and have been clustered thematically. These Certificate Programs will broaden your knowledge because these programs are mostly interdisciplinary of character. That is, these programs allow you to follow courses from other faculties than your own. The Radboud Certificate Programs (RCP) consist of three to five coherent modules of approximately 20 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). After successful completion of a Certificate Program you will receive an official certificate.

General Education Information for UAlbany Students
Credits earned on this program will automatically satisfy the International Perspectives requirement. Three credits of foreign language study will satisfy the Foreign Language requirement. No additional approval is required for you to earn these general elective credits.
Major/Minor Information for UAlbany Students
Courses may also satisfy major and minor requirements, upon approval by the department.
Transcript
All courses taken abroad count towards UAlbany General Elective credits. Credits and grades will appear on your UAlbany transcript. You may file a request to have additional courses approved for equivalency as necessary.

Your courses are taught by local faculty.
Housing
For exchange students, there are two possible ways to arrange accommodation in Nijmegen:
1. The Housing department of the International Office can assist you. A request for assistance can be made by indicating on your online application that you need housing. More information can be found at Radboud’s website.
2. You can search for accommodation yourself. Information on this website is useful for finding rooms in Nijmegen. A furnished room with shared kitchen, toilet and shower facilities will rent for approximately up to €400 per month (about $520 Dollars per month).
Meals
There are cafeterias on campus where you can get meals. However, many Dutch and international students choose to prepare meals for themselves in their own accommodation which offers shared kitchens. Learn more online.

Academic Requirements
Both juniors and seniors are welcome to apply for an exchange period for one or two semesters at the Radboud University Nijmegen. There is no need to be able to speak Dutch as every student and employee at the university is capable of speaking English proficiently. Also, in terms of courses and classes, there is no need to worry about a language barrier since there are more than 250 courses at the university which the primary language of instruction is English.
Only two (2) courses can be selected outside your primary faculty (department). You are free to select two courses in other faculties if you meet the prerequisites for those classes. The full admission requirements are listed online.

From February 2018 onwards Nijmegen will also have a new student organization called ISN Nijmegen. Like their facebook to keep updated on the activities they will organize for international students during the year. ISN Nijmegen is part of ESN. Funding Opportunities
Most financial aid and academic awards will apply to semester programs.
External scholarships, listed on our website, are a good way to partially fund your study abroad experience. In addition, the Center for International Education and Global Strategy offers two scholarship programs for UAlbany students studying abroad on UAlbany or 4-year SUNY programs.

About the City
Nijmegen
The lovely university town of Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands. Nijmegen has everything a student could wish for: museums, theatres, excellent sports facilities, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.
Nijmegen is surrounded by forests with excellent hiking and bicycle trails. The city is famous for its Four Days Marches, where people from all over the world walk together for 4 consecutive days. The walking event takes place each July.
The Netherlands
Commonly referred to as Holland, the Netherlands is a small country with 12 provinces, bordered by Belgium and Germany. In the low-lying country of the Netherlands, the Dutch are most well known for windmills, clogs, tulips, bicycles and their unique political and social tolerance. Visitors to the Netherlands can anticipate an annual visit from Sinterklass (Saint Nicholas) in December and celebrate Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) every April with a citywide festival in Amsterdam. The Netherlands is also home to several National Parks that are available for recreational purposes, as well as nature and environmental education, nature-oriented recreation and research.

Program Orientations
Upon acceptance to the program, you will be required to attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to meet other program participants, discuss in-depth the details of your program, and prepare of the overall education abroad experience. The fall semester pre-departure orientation will be conducted the Saturday before the end of Spring UAlbany classes and in late November/early December for the spring term abroad.
Upon arrival at Radboud, you will attend a mandatory program orientation. This is an important and informative set of sessions organized by International Office of your host university.
Support Services
UAlbany’s Office of Education Abroad staff assists you during the application process, in your preparation to travel abroad, and on-site if necessary. Radboud’s International Office staff serve as an experienced resource for resolving issues that you may encounter in while abroad.
